Goin' Bulilit

Our theme for the office Christmas party was "Goin' Bulilit". Out came the pigtails, puffed sleeves and jumpers, and for food, apart from the usual party fare, we had dirty ice cream, hotdogs on sticks and a chocolate fountain! Yummy!!

Thoughts on Christmas Day

It's the afternoon of Christmas Day, and I was inspired to come up with this layout.

journaling reads:

Dear God,
I am grateful for the year that was. I’ve learned so much about myself and about others. There have been good times and times when I’ve almost given up. But you have never given up on me. I have grown in so many ways. Thank you for a great year!

Angel's Touch - New Kit from Lorie!

Lorie has a new kit out - Angel's Touch! It's got shades of pinks and brown. They're great for scrapping little girl layouts, but I challenged myself to make a little boy layout, and it worked! Check these out:

Bo

my friend's nephew

Bukidnon My Home

Some more pix from Dahilayan, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon. Journaling is from the song Bukidnon My Home.

A Sailor in Paris

I used Aimee's Medieval Thoughts kit and her new Watch Collection 001 to come up with this layout. It's another restored photo of my dad during his Sea Year at King's Point.

Year at Sea

Here is another layout using pictures rescued from my dad's old scrapbook. This is called "Year at Sea" because as part of the educational program at King's Point, they served aboard a ship and traveled around the world. Yet again, the journaling is from the actual text my dad wrote in his scrapbook.

Twilight

Yes, I am one of those bitten by the Twilight bug. It started with the books, then the movie. The quote is from the second book in the Twilight saga, New Moon:

"I wondered how long this could last. Maybe someday, years from now—if the pain would just decrease to the point where I could bear it—I would be able to look back on those few short months that would always be the best of my life. And, if it were possible that the pain would ever soften enough to allow me to do that, I was sure that I would feel grateful for as much time as he’d given me. More than I’d asked for, more than I’d deserved. Maybe someday I’d be able to see it that way."
Bella Swan, New Moon

As I was reading the books, especially New Moon, I could relate to what Bella was feeling. Even if my breakup was nearly three months ago, I still get moments of depression. The evening I took this photo, my friend Bang indulged me by letting me tag along with him to Dahilayan, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, where he has a landscaping project. He knew I was feeling blue, and thought that the change of location would pick me up. I grew up in Bukidnon, and the breathtaking panorama of the fog and pine trees and the crisp mountain air recharged me. Hard to believe that this place is only an hour and a half away from the city! Thanks for bringing me, Bang. :)

Thanks Armina!

A super-talented designer, Armina, noticed that I'd been using her Danya kit a lot. How could I not when it has lots of blues (my favorite color) and the elements are so pretty? She asked me to be a Guest CT, and I was flattered to accept. Wow!

This is the first kit I have to work with, Seaside Garden. I think it's quite versatile - it can go from summer, beachy layouts to girly layouts to whatever! You're only limited by your imagination.

My first impression upon seeing the kit, though, was that it was perfect to scrap Dad's old photos from when he was in King's Point. Guess it was that seagull that caught my imagination! But getting this project underway was easier said than done. First I had to scan the old photos in his academy scrapbook (yep, Dad is the original scrapbooker in the family!) then digitally restore and enhance the faded pictures (nosebleed...) before finally getting down to scrapping.

Here's my first layout:

The journaling, "
and the waters began to churn..." actually comes straight from Dad's scrapbook. I just found a font that sort of matched his handwriting.

After that, I decided to try the kit on a picture that didn't have anything at all to do with the sea and beach. Here is a layout with some of my office friends:

I'm quite happy with what I've been able to do with the Seaside Garden kit so far, and am definitely going to make a lot more layouts with it. Thanks Armina!
